Renting
How long can I rent a tool for?
The shortest rental is one vuorokausi — roughly 24 hours. I am not strict about the clock: we agree collection and return times case by case, and a little flexibility either way is fine.
Every tool has prices for 1, 2, 4 and 7 days. Each is the total for the whole rental, and a longer rental always costs less per day. For more than a week, ask and we will agree a price.
Can a company rent from you?
Yes, but I am not registered for VAT, so VAT cannot be deducted from the price. This is primarily a service for private individuals.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time and at no cost. You pay nothing before collection, so cancelling costs you nothing. Please tell me as soon as you know, so I can offer the tool to someone else.
Paying
How do I pay?
Cash or MobilePay, when you collect the tool — or in advance if we agree that separately. I do not send invoices, and there is no deposit.
Is anything extra charged?
The price includes the tool, the accessories listed on its page, instructions where they exist, and collection. Possible extras are home delivery, a late fee (the tool's normal daily price per started day), and consumables such as fuel or detergent, which are always agreed in advance and paid according to what you use.
Collection and return
Where do I collect the tool?
From my home in Metsokangas, Oulu. The exact address comes with the confirmation. Evenings and weekends are easiest, but mornings and daytime often work too.
Home delivery within the Oulu area can be arranged for a separate fee.
What condition should I return it in?
Normal condition. A bit of dirt does not matter — these are tools and they are used for work, and I do not charge a cleaning fee. Wipe off the worst of it, return all the accessories that came with it, and do not worry about recharging batteries.
Responsibility and insurance
Are the tools insured?
No. There is no separate tool insurance. I am a private person renting out my own machines.
- Normal wear, and a breakdown in normal use, are my risk. They cost you nothing.
- Sudden and unforeseen damage from an external cause — a drop, a knock, theft — is usually covered by the renter's own home insurance. Check your cover before renting.
Claiming from your own insurance is your responsibility, and the repair cost is payable to me either way.
Who is liable for damage to other people?
The renter is fully liable — for personal injury, damage to property, environmental damage and any other harm caused to third parties. Please check your own insurance cover before renting.
What safety equipment do I need?
It depends on the tool and the job: eye protection, gloves and safety boots as a baseline, hearing protection for noisy work, and a respirator for dusty work. You are responsible for using the tool safely and for having the right protective equipment. I am happy to advise when you collect it.
Can I lend the tool on to someone else?
No. The rental agreement is personal, and the person who made the booking is responsible for the tool regardless of who actually uses it.
